I was born in Canterbury and have lived in Kent all my life. This area isn’t just somewhere I work. It’s home.
I come from a farming background and spent 27 years working on Woodlands Poultry Farm, a free-range egg producer. I started out delivering eggs and worked my way up to managing the farm. That hands-on experience taught me a lot about responsibility, hard work, and understanding pest behaviour in real-world environments.
Rodents and wildlife management aren’t new to me. On a farm, you quickly learn how important proper pest control is to protect feed, livestock and buildings.
Before moving fully into pest control, I also worked in the construction industry. That gave me solid knowledge of drains, building structures and how properties are put together. It’s a big advantage when diagnosing how pests are gaining access to homes and commercial buildings in Ashford.

A customer contacted me after discovering a rat nest with babies inside their garden compost bin. Unsure how to deal with the situation safely, they asked me to attend and resolve the issue. On arrival, I dealt with the nest and humanely dispatched the baby rats. The compost bin was then carefully checked to ensure there were no remaining nesting materials or further activity, and I was satisfied that it was completely clear. I carried out a full survey of the garden to check for any additional rat nesting sites or signs of activity elsewhere on the property. Fortunately, no further evidence of rats was found. I reassured the customer that the garden was clear but advised them to monitor the area and contact me if they noticed any further signs of activity. As a preventative measure, I recommended removing the compost bin to reduce the risk of attracting rats in the future. The customer was relieved to have the issue resolved quickly and safely and appreciated the advice given to help prevent any future problems.

A customer contacted me after discovering a dead mouse in an outbuilding attached to her property. On arrival, I safely removed the mouse, which appeared to have been there for some time. I carried out a full external survey of the building but initially found no obvious entry points. The contents of the outbuilding were then removed to allow a thorough inspection, which showed no signs of nesting or further activity. After a more detailed internal inspection, I located a small hole in the brickwork. This hole provided access from the cavity of the party wall shared with the neighbouring property. The hole was professionally filled and sealed to prevent any future rodent entry. With the outbuilding empty, I swept and cleaned the floor before carefully replacing the customer’s belongings. As an additional precaution, I inspected beneath the kitchen units inside the property to ensure there had been no rodent activity there. I’m pleased to report that everything was clear. The customer was very pleased to have the mouse removed and reassured to know her property was rodent-free.

She was understandably shocked and wanted the problem dealt with quickly. We attended within the hour, safely removed the nest and dispatched the young rats. A full garden inspection found movement points under boundary fences and activity around the composter. As the property is semi-rural, the composter had provided ideal harbourage for rats. Scratching in loft in Ashford, TN25 – 13th December 2021
